Nigerian comic actor, John Okafor, who is popularly known as Mr Ibu, is in high spirits as he turns 61 today. The actor is one man who has cheated death several times, as he survived several attempts to take his life.
So in this article, we would be taking a look at how the actor cheated death 4 different times, including how he survived a food poison.
1. Survived Food Poisoning
A photo of the actor’s large stomach went viral on the internet last year, with some people claiming it was photoshopped while others claimed it was taken from a movie scene.
However, in a report published by THE GUARDIAN NEWSPAPERS, the actor revealed that the viral photo was real, claiming that he was poisoned by his employee. John Okafor added that his tummy swelled to the point that he couldn’t even see his legs while standing.
However, he was treated after he was taken to the hospital.
2. Tried Committing Suicide
According to the actor, he once tried to commit suicide during his early days. Mr Ibu disclosed that he got tired of living since he had no money, food, and a source of income. Following this, he decided to commit suicide by jumping into a well. However, when he wanted to jump in the well, he saw the image of his mother and this made him change his mind.
3. Robbed at home by armed robbers
Mr Ibu’s house in FESTAC, Lagos state, was invaded by armed robbers in 2018, and they made away with N14.3 million in cash and valuables. While recounting the incident, the actor stated that he was not at home at the time the incident happened, as they only met his wife and children.
4. Attacked by Hired Killers
In 2019, Mr Ibu told VANGUARD NEWSPAPERS that he was attacked by some hired killers at a hotel he was staying in Nnewi, Anambra State. After the attack, the actor claimed he was unconscious and lifeless for four days, during which time he was transported to different hospitals where he was said to be dead. Mr Ibu, on the other hand, claimed to have resurrected after a mysterious voice told him to go back.
